Exploring Summer Sims In Second Life

Updated: Aug 16

Here at Virtual Artists Magazine, we are proud to feature some amazing sim locations. I was honoured to interview three of the sim owners for this edition of 'Blurb Interviews.' In this edition we are featuring Fleur de Sel, Summer Trace, and Soul2Soul Mediterranean.

Fleur de Sel ~ Blurb Interview with Elizabeth Jewel

What influenced your creation of your Fleur de Sel?

Well, I knew I wanted a place that was easy to explore. I also wanted it to be a place that was relaxing, and would last, nothing stuck in a single theme. I wanted a place that was easy to be in and allows you to forget the stresses in SL and RL. That is the area called Lavender beach....and it sort of flowed from there. This time around, I wanted to make sure the entire sim was walkable. I wanted to encourage people to find different spots and not stick to their favourite spots. I just want everyone who comes here to smile.

If there was one activity you wanted to do in your sim, what would it be?

Well, I saw a picture done here, a lady on roller blades. I think that it would be fun to put on skates and race around, I am a terrible driver on the scooters and the bikes are a bit slow. But really, I really just enjoy sitting back a bit and watching others enjoy it now :)

Lastly, what is your favourite spot at the sim right now?

That is a tough one, but I have to say it is the little build above Lavender beach. It was the first part I completed. I love the colours and the resort feeling. I love to just sit there and see most of the sim and feel like you are away at the same time.

Summer Trace ~ Blurb Interview with Elvira Kytori

What influenced your creation of Summer Trace?

The region was inspired by a RL location called Isla Pancha. I came across a picture while searching for something else, and the idea grew and developed from there.

If there was one activity you wanted to do in your sim, what would it be?

I would like to practice some Thai-chi on the cliff top next to the beach. It is very relaxing with the amazing view and the sound of the ocean crashing against the cliff face.

Lastly, what is your favourite spot at the sim right now?

I have always loved the garden area where the water sprinklers are located. All of the plants and flowers create a great atmosphere while walking or just hanging out.

Soul2Soul Mediterranean ~ Blurb Interview with Minnie Atlass

What influenced your creation of Soul2Soul Mediterranean?

My memories of great holidays in Italy. I like to recreate real life places from RL photos while allowing for some license to my own artistic style. I was inspired by Portofino. It was originally a fishing village with a cobbled square overlooking a picturesque harbour with panoramic views. Inspired by this area, I created this stunning public region and offered limited private rental homes.

If there was one activity you wanted to do in your sim, what would it be?

I love to ride my horse along the beach and sandy paths early on in the day when it is peaceful and quiet while taking in the coastline views!

Lastly, what is your favourite spot at the sim right now?

I love sitting outside the cafe and watching the visitors stroll along the harbour!
